On behalf of our Equitable Injectable PrEP in LA County Initiative, we are excited to invite you to our next community workshop entitled Implementing LAI PrEP with Black and Latino/a MSM and Transgender Women (BLMSM/TW): Practical and Cultural Considerations on Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 10:00-11:30 AM PT via Zoom. Join this workshop to learn about practical strategies for implementing long-acting injectable PrEP in your clinic and cultural considerations for effectively serving BLMSM/TW in Los Angeles County with this new prevention option.

 

The primary audience for this workshop is healthcare providers, clinic administrators, clinic staff, and other frontline staff who serve BLMSM/TW in Los Angeles County. All are welcome.

Good afternoon, EHE regional response partners! I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer! After our brief summer hiatus, we are back with the next EHE Regional Learning Collaborative session on Policy Action to End the HIV Epidemic is coming up on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 10-11:30 AM PT! Policy action is critical to ensuring our communities most impacted by HIV receive the support and resources they need to thrive. Participate in this session to learn about approaches to engaging in policy action to support EHE goals in California’s EHE Phase 1 counties and beyond. Our fantastic panelists for this session are:

  • working with those stakeholders to assess key needs, collaborative opportunities, and existing resources for a coordinated EHE response;

Wilson, PhD, Professor of Psychology Department of Psychology, UCLA Event Flyer: Using Intensive Longitudinal Measurement to Identify Intervention Targets to Improve Mental and Sexual Health and Reduce Substance Use in Vulnerable Populations - Flyer The interrelationships among mental health, substance use, and sex have long interested behavioral scientists and researchers and practitioners working on substance abuse and HIV. This presentation will review findings from weekly and daily structured diaries implemented over periods of up to 60 days. Findings reveal common situational factors tied substance use and risky sexual experiences. Implications for future clinical and behavioral interventions will be provided. -----------

Dear Colleagues, CHIPTS, in collaboration with the DGSOM Global Health Program (GHP), invites you to attend a special lecture entitled, “Collaborative Research and Education on Global Health between Hanoi Medical University and UCLA,” featuring speaker Giang Minh Le, MD, PhD, Professor in Epidemiology and Global Health from Hanoi Medical University in Vietnam. Over the past ten years, he has led the efforts to build addiction workforce in Vietnam through technology transfer centers. He also led the development of the Sexual Health Promotion (SHP) Clinic of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, a unique one-stop-shop health care facility for gay men and transgender women in Hanoi. Exploring Harm Reduction Strategies for Those Experiencing Homelessness and Living with HIV and/or Substance Use and/or Mental Health Disorders” on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM PT. This seminar is the second session of a 3-series discussion addressing housing in Los Angeles County including an overview of the current housing climate in LA County, harm reduction services, housing policies that impact the unhoused and best practices. During this second session, our featured panelists will specifically discuss harm reduction strategies in Los Angeles County especially for key populations experiencing homelessness, substance use, and/or mental health. The objectives of this meeting are to:
  • To provide an overview of the current harm reduction services in Los Angeles County
  • To better understand the challenges of those experiencing homelessness and living with HIV and/or substance use and/or mental health disorders
