CHIPTS Conference Scholarship Program

We are no longer accepting application at this time.

Contributing to our center’s mission, the CHIPTS Conference Scholarship Program is to provide opportunities and support for early-career investigators, students (e.g. graduate-level, pre- and post-doctoral students), and community advocates/researchers to attend HIV-related conferences in efforts to promote science, foster networking, and increase capacity building.    There is a limited number of scholarships available based on funding availability with certain restrictions applied.

We are excited to offer 3 travel scholarships to attend CROI 2020 in Boston, March 8 to 11, 2020. Deadline is December 13, 2019 and will be based on availability.

To be eligible, candidates:

  • Must be considered an early-career investigator, student (e.g. graduate, pre- or post-doctoral), or a community advocate/researcher in the field of HIV
  • Must be recommended and sponsored by a CHIPTS faculty member
  • Must provide proof/documentation of having an HIV-related oral or poster presentation or workshop accepted at the conference and
  • Must attend a CHIPTS meeting to share what they learned and to write a written summary of their gained experience

Priorities will be given to those who have not received scholarship funds from CHIPTS within the last 12 months.  The scholarship covers only domestic airfare cost for one round-trip economy class ticket and must be booked through the UCLA Travel Center.  The scholarship does not cover reimbursements for flights that have already been booked.
