CHIPTS and our partners at the California HIV/AIDS Policy Research Centers (CHPRC) are co-hosting an Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) regional meeting entitled Taking strategic action to address substance use in California on Oct. 20 from 9-11 a.m. PST and Oct. 27 from 9-11 a.m. PST. This meeting will bring together stakeholders from the 8 CA counties targeted under Phase 1 of the Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America Initiative, as well as other partners working at the intersection of HIV and substance use across the state, for a two-day, virtual event.

  • Day 1 will focus on the current landscape of substance use in CA, how it contributes to the HIV epidemic and related syndemics, and evidence-based strategies available to address it. Breakout groups will discuss the successes, challenges, and needs participants have experienced working to address substance use in the context of the HIV epidemic and related syndemics.
  • Day 2 will focus on strategy implementation by offering examples of efforts currently being implemented at various levels to address substance use in CA. Breakout groups will discuss action that can be taken over the next 12 months to expand the implementation of evidence-based strategies to address substance use.

If you have any questions, please contact CHIPTS EHE Coordinator Elena Rosenberg-Carlson at erosenberg-carlson@mednet.ucla.edu.
