Li Li, PhD

Li Li, PhD, is Professor at the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, and Department of Epidemiology, UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. She has been the Director of Methods Core, Center for HIV Identification, Prevention and Treatment Services (CHIPTS) since 2004. Dr. Li specializes in research design, intervention development, data collection and assessment strategies. She conducts research on HIV and drug abuse prevention and treatment, social and cultural aspects of health promotion and services. She has received research grants to conduct randomized controlled trials to reduce HIV stigma among service providers and to enhance methadone maintenance treatment outcomes in China, to improve the quality of life for families and children impacted by HIV in Thailand and China, and to enhance the role of commune health workers in HIV prevention for people who use drugs and their families in Vietnam. Currently, she leads a project aiming to develop and test multilevel integration strategies to address the needs of people living with HIV and a history of drug use in Vietnam. She has actively involved in UCLA Fogarty training programs in the past 14 years, and currently, she is a PI for the Fogarty training program on HIV research methodologies in Vietnam.
