CHIPTS is pleased to invite you to attend a virtual session entitled,  “In Case You Missed It: Key highlights from the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI)” on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM – 1:15 PM PT.

The purpose of this virtual session is to share key abstracts from CROI 2025 selected by CHIPTS scientists. Presenter will highlight innovative research specifically for CHIPTS community – including students, community members, healthcare providers, policymakers, researchers, and more – and discuss how new science can be applied to our collective efforts in eliminating the HIV epidemic.

CHIPTS 2025 HIV Next Generation Conference

Abstract submission and registration are now open for the CHIPTS 2025 HIV Next Generation Conference on Friday, January 31, 2025. The conference is free to attend and will be held in-person at The California Endowment – 1000 Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

The goal of this conference is to support the next generation of HIV researchers, HIV prevention and treatment practitioners, and service providers dedicated to ending to the HIV/AIDS epidemic through networking and exchanging visions for future priorities.

We welcome participation from all Southern California, national and global stakeholders and partners working to advance HIV prevention and treatment programs, policies, education, and research. The intended audience are CBO, ASO, clinic and public health department staff, community, patient and client advocates, students and trainees, and early-stage to established investigators.

Why Is It So Hard to Get People Housed? Innovative Housing Policies and Best Practices

Dear Colleagues – CHIPTS is pleased to invite you to an upcoming virtual seminar entitled “Why Is It So Hard to Get People Housed? Innovative Housing Policies and Best Practices” on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 11:30 AM – 12:45 PM PT. See more information below and attached.

This seminar is the third session of a three-series discussion addressing housing in Los Angeles County including an overview of the current housing climate in LA County, harm reduction services, housing policies that impact the unhoused and best practices. During this third session, our featured panelists will specifically discuss housing policies and share best practices from different jurisdictions.

The objectives of this meeting are:

  • To provide an overview of the current housing policies in Los Angeles County, Houston, New York City, and Seattle
  • To understand the major policy obstacles to getting people housed
  • To share innovative policy changes that have improved access to housing, and highlight best practices from various jurisdictions

We welcome attendees interested in working to provide access to housing, including but not limited to CBO staff, social services providers, HIV providers, mental health and substance use providers and academic researchers. EHE Learning Collaborative Session 26: Policy Action to End the HIV Epidemic

I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer! After our brief summer hiatus, we are back with the next EHE Regional Learning Collaborative session on Policy Action to End the HIV Epidemic is coming up on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 10-11:30 AM PT! Policy action is critical to ensuring our communities most impacted by HIV receive the support and resources they need to thrive. Participate in this session to learn about approaches to engaging in policy action to support EHE goals in California’s EHE Phase 1 counties and beyond.

The Grand Rounds are monthly lecture series, which is offered by the UCLA CHIPTS and UCLA-CDU CFAR, consists of hour-long lunchtime lectures, delivered by invited guests or distinguished members of the Institute faculty, on a broad range of subjects. The aims of the program are to highlight important developments in AIDS-related research, encourage collaborations between UCLA investigators and invited speakers, interest young investigators in AIDS research, and provide information about new findings and new funding opportunities.

The Grand Rounds monthly lectures are delivered by renowned researchers/scientists, clinicians, community members and leaders in the HIV prevention and treatment field, and aim to:

  • Share latest research findings on HIV prevention, care, and treatment, and highlight important developments in research
  • Encourage scientific collaborations and networking between UCLA investigators and invited speakers
  • Excite an interest in HIV/AIDS research for early career investigators, and provide resources about new research findings, funding, and career opportunities.

Strategies to Address Substance Use among Older Adults with HIV in California

CHIPTS, APLA Health, the Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center (PAETC), and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation are excited to invite you to the second part of the 5th session series of substance use of the California Statewide HIV and Aging Educational Initiative, entitled “Strategies to Address Substance Use among Older Adults with HIV in California.” This session will take place on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, 1–3 PM PT!
