May 30, 2025

8:00am – 10:00am Los Angeles

Dear Colleagues,

The UCLA CHIPTS Rapid, Rigorous, Relevant (3R) and the San Diego CFAR Implementation Science Hubs are co-hosting a methods workshop entitled, “Roll-out implementation optimization (ROIO) in Practice: Methodological Considerations and Case Examples,” on Friday, May 30, from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM PT.  You don’t want to miss out on this workshop!

Featured Faculty: JD Smith, PhD, Anna Lau, PhD, Borsika Rabin, PhD, PharmD, MHP, Nicole Stadnick, PhD, MPH and Sylvanna M. Vargas, PhD, MPH

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Define the ROIO study design and explain how it differs from traditional stepped wedge and hybrid implementation-effectiveness designs.
  • Describe key methodological considerations for planning and executing a ROIO study, including timing of roll-out, adaptation tracking, and real-time optimization.
  • Identify appropriate contexts and research questions for which the ROIO design is best suited, with attention to health systems implementation.
  • Evaluate real-world case examples that illustrate application of ROIO methods across diverse clinical or public health settings.
  • Apply lessons learned from ROIO studies to conceptualize and refine their own implementation research designs, including opportunities for co-design, stakeholder engagement, and continuous learning.

There will be a 20-minute drop-in group consultation offered after the workshop for those who are interested.
