Dear Colleagues – CHIPTS is pleased to invite you to an in-person lecture presented by Dr. Andrew Medina-Marino entitled “Improving Access to Tuberculosis Care and HIV Prevention in South Africa” on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM PT at the A2-342 MDCC (Moss Auditorium). Dr. Medina-Marino will share recent findings from two on-going studies – The Community PrEP Study which leveraged community-based platforms to improve access and adherence to PrEP among adolescent girls and young women, and a formative study exploring men’s preferences for a gender responsive intervention to support their engagement and retention in care. The event objectives are to:

  • Describe the acceptability and feasibility of leveraging community-based HIV testing platforms to provide same-day initiation services for oral PrEP to adolescent girls and young women
  • Describe the limitations of adherence support interventions to improve adolescent girls and young women’s prevention effective use of daily oral PrEP
  • Appreciate the gendered inequities associated with Tuberculosis
  • Describe men’s needs and wants for an intervention to support their engagement and retention in TB care and treatment
