The infographic, entitled HIV Risk Reduction and Earned Income Tax Credit discusses the EITC which is an anti-poverty program that provides cash assistance to lower income individuals. The research shows that single women with children reduce their HIV risk just by claiming. The infographic was created by the California HIV/AIDS Policy Research Center in 2022.
This project was led by researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles and Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in collaboration with the California Community Foundation to advise and provide insights on how to reach communities of color and those hardly reached to educate, build trust, and disseminate vaccines in South Los Angeles given historical experiences with medical mistrust. The efforts center around three goals, which are to: (1) Facilitate community, public, private, and governmental partnerships to reduce, COVID-19 vaccine inequity. (2) Educate communities of color in South LA about the COVID-19 vaccines through virtual town halls, and (3) Navigate communities of color in South LA on how to access available COVID-19 vaccines.
Oral presentation by Emily P. Hyle at the HIV Grand Rounds in June 2022 that discusses the life expectancy of people with HIV who are engaged in care and virologically suppressed is near normal, but age-associated co-morbidities are rising. The presentation describes trends in multimorbidity, additional clinical complexity and costs are anticipated in the future. The simulation modeling can be used to project the future burden of co-morbidities among people aging with HIV.
EHE Regional Learning Collaborative session focused on Innovations to Serve Hardly Reached Communities featuring Dr. David Goodman-Meza, Luckie Alexander, and Alejandra Aguilar-Avelino held on Tuesday, March 15, from 10-11:30 AM PST! This session discussed strategies and approaches to ensure hardly reached communities at high risk for HIV receive the services they need to thrive, including individuals experiencing homelessness, individuals with problematic substance use, transmasculine individuals, and more.
Summary of recommendations by Alma Guerrero, Department of Pediatrics, UCLA for the COVID-19 Roundtable Providers Summit on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. The recommendations focused on mobilizing service providers, improving patient-provider interaction, and the increase of vaccination rates.

The guiding discussion were related to the current state of COVID-19, best practices/lessons learned, and education and information sharing (Providers).
Program guide for an upcoming conference on the “Delivery of Telehealth in Clinical Care and Research Interventions” exploring the challenges, barriers, successes, and future considerations. The conference is on Friday, June 18, 2021, from 11AM-2PM PT. The conference will address the challenges and highlight the successes of telehealth delivery in clinical care and research, discuss the populations telehealth works for, and highlight the populations facing major disparities in equity and access, and share important lessons learned and best practices to reach key populations.

The presentation described the challenges, barriers, successes, & future considerations of the BUILDING BROTHERS UP (2BU) project which aims to reduce HIV transmission and acquisition and the risks that can result from substance use among BMSM living with HIV, ages 18-65 years.
Oral presentation by David Solomon from Venice Family Clinic at the Delivery of Telehealth in Clinical Care and Research Interventions: Challenges, Barriers, Success, and Future Considerations conference on June 2021. The presentation discusses the success of telehealth from a patients and provider perspective which include better access, avoiding public transit, and improved geographic reach. The presentation also discusses challenges in telehealth that include patients not wanting to come in, the difficulty of setting up video visits, and Fewer lab draws.
