CHIPTS Director, Dr. Mary Jane Rotheram-Borus, shares her thoughts on World AIDS Day:

It’s World AIDS Day – HIV was first identified 33 years ago and, now, we may be able to eliminate HIV transmission.

In the last five years, Treatment as Prevention, Pre- and Post-exposure Prophylaxis have the potential to revolutionize HIV prevention.

However, to realize this potential, behavioral scientists will need to link closely with biomedical researchers in order to improve adherence, nudge families towards living their healthiest lives, and helping families and communities to address multiple health problems concurrently.

Take time today to reflect on our successes and prepare to meet these last challenges.
