Biography:

Dr. Li Li joined the UCLA Semel Institute – Center for Community Health in 2002. She is Professor-in-Residence at Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, UCLA Semel Institute and at Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health. She specializes in research design, intervention development, data collection and assessment strategies. Dr. Li has been conducting research on HIV and drug abuse prevention and treatment, social and cultural aspects of health promotion and services. She has received research grants to conduct randomized controlled trials to reduce HIV stigma among service providers and to enhance methadone maintenance treatment outcomes in China, to improve the quality of life for families and children impacted by HIV in Thailand and China, and to enhance the role of commune health workers in HIV prevention for people who use drugs and their families in Vietnam. The most recently funded project is to develop and test multilevel integration strategies to address the needs of people living with HIV and a history of drug use and other comorbid conditions in Vietnam. Currently, she is a PI or Co-PI for three Fogarty training programs on HIV research methodologies in China and Vietnam.
