Diane Tan, PhD(c), is a PhD candidate in Health Policy and Management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. She has developed a strong background in public health research and working with vulnerable populations. After completing her undergraduate degree, she began working with HIV-positive clients in San Francisco by helping clients identify and access local services and resources. As a master’s student at UCLA, she worked with the Los Angeles County Commission on HIV to develop questionnaires and other data collection tools to evaluate service effectiveness and need of Ryan White-funded services across Los Angeles County. She has completed several oral and poster presentations on structural and systemic factors affecting access to care for people living with HIV (PLWH) and has recently been involved in several papers examining important contextual influences of treatment adherence among PLWH and HIV risk factors among those at highest risk for HIV infection. Her current work focuses on racial/ethnic disparities in health insurance coverage stability and access to care for those living with chronic conditions.
