On September 20 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM PDT, the Texas/Oklahoma AIDS Education & Training Center (TX/OK AETC) is hosting a webinar training, entitled:
“HIV
101: HIV Screening, Treatment & Referral Overview”

Participants will learn about the epidemiologic trends among various sub-populations based on age, gender, and demographic locations. The training will go over virology/pathogenesis, testing, linkage to care and treatment options. Guidelines for testing and treatment will be discussed briefly.
*CEs are not available. However, Certificates of Attendance are available upon request.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Interpret HIV epidemiology.
- Recognize HIV pathogenesis.
- Identify testing and treatment guidelines.
- Describe some of the benefits and risks in HIV/AIDS
treatment and care.
SPEAKER INFORMATION:
Dr. Muhammad Akbar is board certified in Internal Medicine and
Infectious Diseases. Dr. Akbar has been in HIV clinical care since
2003. He currently runs a fulltime HIV/AIDS clinic at Parkland Hospital’s
Southeast COPC. Dr. Akbar is a member of ISA/HIV/MA, AAHIVM.
