12:00 PM – 1:30 PM PDT
Please join us for a webinar on Thursday, May 17th to commemorate the upcoming 8th annual National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Sponsored by the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (WHIAAPI) and Banyan Tree Project (BTP), this webinar provides an overview of HIV in Asian & Pacific Islander communities, and the impact of stigma and cultural taboos on A&PIs who are at-risk for or living with HIV. We will also showcase Taking Root: Our Stories, Our Community – a community-driven digital storytelling initiative to end HIV stigma and discrimination among Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AAs and NHPIs).
Learning Objectives:
1. Be more knowledgeable about the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in A&PI communities
2. Understand various types of stigma that affect A&PIs at-risk for or living with HIV/AIDS.
3. Understand how cultural factors affect access to and utilization of HIV services.
