The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of AIDS Research (OAR) is sponsoring the Workshop on Ethical Considerations in HIV Genetics Research from the International Perspective scheduled for Saturday, July 21, 2012. The workshop will be held at Renaissance Hotel Washington DC, 999 9th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001. The Workshop will focus on international research and highlight the ongoing ethical issues in HIV genetics/genomics studies. This workshop will be held as an independent affiliated event with the International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012) and will be open to the public.
The workshop participants will include leaders in this field and will address many issues related to the conduct of genetics research in the international setting including:
o Return of research results to patients
o Community engagement/Knowledge, Beliefs and Attitudes
o Participant consent and control
o Data-sharing and secondary use/biorepositories
