MODELS OF PRIDE CONFERENCE
Professional Track
Saturday, October 13, 2012
USC
October 13, 2012 is the 20th anniversary of Models of Pride. It is a full day conference at USC. This extraordinary event continues to grow. Last year we had over 1400 youth attendees, plus a parent track and a professional track. This year we added a Spanish language track for parents and expect even more youth. Wow!
The Professionals Track is for adults who provide service for or about LGBTQ youth. This has always been a popular event with awesome information. This year’s presentations include:
* Risk and Protective Factors for LGBTQ youth: Negin Ghavami, UCLA
* LGBTQ Inclusive Curriculum: Julie Plaisance
* Student Rights Project by ACLU: James Gilliam
* Homophobia, Transphobia, Biphobia & Heterosexism: GLIDE
* Bullying to Hate Crime: Examining the Continuum: Detective Martin Pineda, LAPD Hate Crimes; Stephen Jimenez, Educational Equity, LAUSD & Sara Train, SPIN
Tickets are only $25 and include lunch. Please spread the word and invite your friends and colleagues. You can register at www.modelsofpride.org. If you have any questions contact Judy Chiasson at judy.chiasson@lausd.net or 213-505-4744.
