Presentation Description:

The presentation will provide a brief overview of Affordable Care Act, focusing on Covered California. It will highlight key information that is most relevant to prevention and care providers serving people living with HIV or at risk for HIV.  Using case-based examples, the presentation will help dispel misconceptions about what health care reform will do and not do for these populations infected and affected by HIV.  The purpose of this interactive presentation is to engage Commission members, local service providers, key stakeholders, and clients of HIV prevention and care services in a dialogue about the impact of this part of health care reform on local HIV program planning.  The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion that will include:

-Derrick Butler (Associate Medical Director and HIV Physician, THE Clinic)

-John Riley (HIV Benefits Specialist, APLA)

-Aaron Fox (Health Policy Manager, Public Policy, LA Gay and Lesbian Center)

-Michael Kelly (consumer)
