The Community PROMISE training consists of two parts: an online Overview course and a four-day, in-person training. Completion of the online course is required before registration of the live training.
The Overview course covers the concept of community-level interventions, what “community” means, the theoretical background, PROMISE’s four core elements, the connections between the theories, the concept of reaching critical mass, a formula to identify number of Role Model Stories and Peer Advocates according to sample size and the core elements. A passing score or an in-depth discussion with the training team will satisfy this first requirement.
The four-day, face-to-face course provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to implement PROMISE successfully. Through interactive exercises, participants will gain skills to create a Community Identification Assessment Report, write role model stories, train peer advocates and identify instruments used for ongoing evaluation.
