Research & Interest
Dr. Veniegas is a social scientist whose research addresses the use of behavioral theories and interventions in community-based settings. She is the PI for a State of California Universitywide AIDS Research Program-funded study (UARP ID05LA024, HIV Technology Transfer in Los Angeles) to examine the challenges faced by and strategies for successful implementation of evidence-based interventions among staff from CBOs. She was the Co-PI for a Los Angeles County Office of AIDS Programs and Policy and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-funded contract (H700024) to provide evaluation technical assistance to HIV, STD, tuberculosis and substance abuse prevention service providers in Service Planning Areas 1-8. She was also the Fidelity Specialist for a UARP-funded study to culturally adapt an evidence-based HIV prevention intervention for at-risk youth for young Latino men who have sex with men. She has served on the Los Angeles Mayor’s HIV/AIDS Leadership Council and co-chaired the Standards and Best Practices Subcommittee of the Los Angeles County HIV Prevention Planning Committee.
